Librarian
Jackson Preparatory School in Flowood, MS, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Librarian to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Librarian reports to the COO. The Librarian will engage with students in PreK-3 through Grade 12 to empower them to become critical thinkers, avid readers, and competent researchers while supporting Jackson Prep’s mission “to inspire and challenge students toward academic, athletic, and artistic excellence, instill personal integrity through biblical values, and equip students to pursue lives of distinction in service to society.”
The Librarian reports to the COO. Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for selecting, organizing, and maintaining library materials, ensuring they are current and relevant to the curriculum.
- Assist teachers in selecting, evaluating, and using resources, including Internet-based resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into their curriculum, thus enhancing the overall educational experience.
- Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school resources, and communicate with students and teachers.
- Provide reference and research assistance to students and teachers.
- Organize and promote events and activities that foster a reading culture.
- Create and manage library displays and special collections.
- Manage the library budget and assist in financial planning for resources.
- Manage digital resources and online databases to include textbook inventory database.
- Evaluate and reorganize library systems for efficiency and accessibility.
- Conduct weekly classes for Lower School students and foster independent reading habits through book talks, author visits, and reading challenges.
- Degree in Library Science or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cataloging and classification systems.
- Experience in instructional design and information literacy instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in library management software and digital resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to uphold Jackson Prep’s mission and philosophy, demonstrate the school's core character values, and be an active member of the Jackson Prep community.
